Today was a typical day.  There was not a lot of excitement.  I spent the firest part of the morning working on the 1st and 2nd grade school curriculum and ran into problems with 3rd grade so I moved to 4th grade and started working on it.  Then half way through the morning I went to the Life Skills Educators planning meeting for their Holiday club that they will

Today is a public holiday in Cape Town called Youth Day.  This is a day that celebrates the youth of the country.  We heard the origin about it and in 1976 some children did not think it was fair to only learn one language at school and so they protested and some violence broke out.  Then now they celebrate young people on this day.

I went with two other girls and we

HAPPY FATHER'S DAY TO ALL OF THE DADS WHO ARE READING THIS!!  This weekend has really been about just relaxing and hanging out.  On Saturday, we all slept late but for me that is like 8am which is late compared to when I usually get up!  Then we hung out at the B and B, in the afternoon we went t a restaurant to watch the South African Springbok Rugby team play on TV.  Rugby

So this morning I had my first driving lesson with Pam.  Well first I could not get the car started every time I tried to slowly lift off the clutch and push on the gas I would stall and stall and stall and stall and stall!  Well after Pam and I kept laughing she realized that the emergency brake was on the whole time!  There was even a woman who came by and we told her that Pam

Today I am feeling so much better!  My stomach is not completely back to normal but I feel so much better and my appetite is back!  I got to to our family devotion this morning and of course I used one of my favorite books "Streams in the Desert" and it was talking about God's plan and not our plan and I so needed to hear that after being sick!  This morning

So last night I was still not feeling well so I took some medicine praying it would work and I would be able to sleep.  I did for a while but then woke up in the wee hours of the morning not feeling well.  I got up when my alarm went off this morning and knew there was no way I could do anything today.  I do not know what kind of bug I have caught but I am ready for it to go away

There has been a lot going on in Cape Town over the weekend.  We found out yesterday that there are some things going on at the Refugee camp that we worked at.  The Somalians have taken over the camp and forced eveyone to go on a hunger strike.  This has been a hard time for a lot of us because many of the team got close to the kids so we had a prayer time last night and it

Crying Day

Well today I actually cried a little bit the BBC team left and I had to say goodbye to people and that was a little hard!  The Lord knew what He was doing when He sent me down here with people but they had to leave.  I have gotten through it but as I think about it this was the first time I cried since I have been here so crying once in ten days I think is GREAT!  Let me recap the

This morning we went to the Refugee camp and played with the kids.  As the morning began I met a man from Ethopia who shared about what has happened to him and the fact that he has lost the two stores that he ran in Cape Town.  I played with the kids and sand songs.....we introduced them to the songs, "Brother, Friend" and "J-O-Y".  The kids enjoyed them a lot
