Life has gotten back to normal here and that is wonderful.  This week I was able to accomplish a lot of work in the office.  I have had two individual volunteers helping me this week so jobs that I needed to get to but had not had the time they took over and have now completed just about every single one!!  Because of them tackling those jobs I was able to work in the office

I have offically been back in Cape Town for a week now and it has been so nice to get back to life.  I loved my time in the states but it was very busy where now here I have been able to slow down an just adjust back to life.  We landed on Tuesday and on Wednesday I picked right back up into work.  I walked into the Prevention building and was overwhelmed with all of the things that

 

I am sitting in the Chicago airport as I take a little bit of time to reflect on the past five weeks at home in the USA.  First of all I can't believe how fast the time went and how much I did not get to do.  The other side of that is the fact that I was able to visit with MANY friends, church family, my parents, one of my cousins and of course my precious five nephews!! 

I have now been in the USA a couple of weeks and it does still feel a little weird.  There are many things that I truly do appreciate about being in the USA like fast internet, more conveniences, more choices, but I also miss the slow pace of Cape Town and just the life that I have come to know there.  I have eaten so much souther food and enjoyed every moment I have gotten to visit with

 

I know that I am so far behind life just got really busy the closer it got to Thanksgiving......I think that was because it was closer to me going back to the states for Christmas.  The week that I left on Monday I had to do all day training with the LSEs on the Holiday Club curriculum.  We spent the entire day talking about Christmas.  It went really well.....everyone

I had a different week this week.  In the mornings I worked in the office and am in the process of trying to get things ready for me leaving in about two and a half weeks.  Then each afternoon I had the opportunity to be tour guide to a visitor.  I was asked to take Jackie (visitor who is a children's minister from California) to each area and show her all of the children&#

Monday.....I spent the morning on the computer working on the parenting curriculum and trying to get resources together to have it make sense.  I feel a little out of my element with it because of the fact that I am not a parent but at the same time having a teacher's background is a good thing.  I dropped in a kids club this afternoon. I then went home and did some walking to gear up

 

Last weekend decided to be a tourist and do some of the things I have put off doing lately.  On Saturday morning the volunteers and I went to Robben Island.  I have not done that tour since 2004 and felt that it was time to go back because I do not really remember much about it.  We took the ferry boat ride and ended up on the island and then began with a  bus tour and

This week began the new adventure for me.  On Monday I started as the temporary fill in role for ACTS in taking care of the ACTS (short/long term volunteers).  So Monday I was running around a whole bunch and learning things as well.  What this job basically means is taking care of the vols in terms of driving/housing/food logisitics.  Basically I am driving them to their Living

 I spent a lot of time sitting in front of the computer but also had to do some packing as well. The supply closet in the Prevention building had to be packed up because of wiring that was going to be done in the closet. Also I was waiting for shelves to be leveled to be able to unpack all of the books from the resource center and put them back on the shelves. So needless to say it has been a
