Missions Momma

I had a different week this week.  In the mornings I worked in the office and am in the process of trying to get things ready for me leaving in about two and a half weeks.  Then each afternoon I had the opportunity to be tour guide to a visitor.  I was asked to take Jackie (visitor who is a children's minister from California) to each area and show her all of the children's clubs.  As well I was looking forward to talking to her and getting some ideas about different things.  We spent Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday afternoon together.  It was great to just sit and get to know her and we were both able to share about our lives and just what God has been doing in each of our lives.  On Wednesday afternoon, we met with Avril and after that meeting I was given a list of new things to do based on our conversations....you know me I do not say no I just keep busy doing things! 

Jackie came at a good time for me to really start thinking about next year and what new exciting things are going to happen with the Life Skill Educators. 

I got to experience my first Friday afternoon off and not having to drive the volunteers anywhere and that was a nice treat!  I ended up having lunch with two of the vols and it was nice to just be their friend and not have to worry about getting them places!  I then spent the evening with Jakes and her husband.  Jakes used to be the manager of the Team House.  I was invited over to their flat for dinner and I honestly do not think that I stopped talking the whole time I was there!  (I know most of you are not surprised by that sentence J )

 

On Saturday, Pat and I were invited to a picnic lunch with the Low Country team that is still here at the Team House.  We had a wonderful lunch with them just sitting and introducing them to one of my new favourite spots!  Then Pat and I did a little bit of Christmas shopping...well I should say Pat did some shopping and I did some looking!  We went to the mall and went to this one store and I was overwhelmed with the Christmas feelings.  I could tell at that moment that I was a different person because I was over stimulated by all of the items in the store.  It made me think about how I am different from what I was in May 2008 and going home to things I have not seen or experienced in eighteen months.....a little interesting!!! Then I came home and had to get ready to go to a bridal shower for one of the Life Skill Educators who is getting married in December.  It was a fun evening and here they do bridal showers a little bit different then in the USA....it was a lot of fun and I had a good time!

 

Sunday was one of those nice quiet days....spent some time watching TV, packing a little bit, cleaning, and then I decided to go to the movies to see "This Is It".  I then came home ate some dinner and just relaxed.  The weather today at first made me want to go to the beach but it was cool and the wind was blowing so it was not a day for the beach.  Hopefully next weekend will be a time for some sunning!!!! J
