Missions Momma

This week I only made it to one afternoon children's club because I was spending some last amounts of time with Pat before she left on Thursday.  I made it out to Red Hill on Monday and took Melanie there so she could see what it was like.  I have to say the kids there are so cute in fact with all of the new changes and things they were only having club at the top camp on Mondayand the children from the middle camp hiked up to top camp to come to club.  TOO PRECIOUS

Spent a lot of time working in the office and trying to work on a couple of projects that Avril has given me to do. On Thursday, I did devotions for the Living Services staff and I was really trying to figure out what to share and then God just led me to a passage as well as a topic that of course I am dealing with which is waiting and faith.  I know at different points we all struggle with these two topics.  Thursday was also the day that we had to say goodbye to Pat.  A group of us went to the airport to see her off and I was fine with not crying and then the moment we hugged I just simply lost it and cried and cried!  We ended up having a nice little farewell we all went and grabbed a soda at this place at the airport and had time just to visit before we had to say goodbye and that was nice.  I was very blessed after that because Mike and Pam had invited me over for dinner which was so sweet so I would not have to be alone after saying goodbye to my South Africa Mom!

Friday was LSE training day and the morning started with a great meeting with the LSE team leaders and we met and brain-stormed and talked through some things that I am very excited about.....we will see what is to come but I am excited about it!  Then we all met together and had a good meeting and I worked in the office for a little longer.  I actually came home from work and took like a 30 minute power nap (since moving to Africa I have fallen in love with quick little power naps!) Some of the long term vols that are here all got together that night and made dinner together and then played games.  It was a  fun Friday night. 

Saturday was one of those days that was just really relaxing.  I laid in bed for a while...got up and straightened up my flat and then read for a while which was really nice.  I made myself a nice salad for lunch and just enjoyed the nice day.  Then for the evening....a group of vols that are here from Delaware had everyone over for a braai (BBQ) so we had a good time just visiting with everyone because they invited everyone so it was a time to hang out with LSEs and other people as well. 

Today has been very quiet, went to church and it was a different service because we are in the last week of a 21 day Daniel fast.  Pastor John and the leadership of the church have felt burdened to do something in starting 2010 and so we were challenged to give up something for 21 days and use that time to grow closer with God.  Also our church services have looked different we have had no music there has been different things happening and it has been a time for each of us to think about our own lives.  Today was the last Sunday of it and some people got up and shared some testimonies and prayed.  I then came home and have just relaxed for the afternoon....which is great because then it gives me time to catch up on the blog!!
