A Quiet Weekend…..

Sunday, May 31st 2009

Got up early at Pat's house and we had a nice morning of listening to some worship music and taking our time getting ready in the morning.  I was also excited because this was the first time in three weeks because of the trip.  Church was good it was the International Day of Prayer and it was cool when John shared that all the countries in the world

would be praying today!  After church I went home and made some lunch and then I actually took a nap….that is something that I have not done in a long time!  It was a rainy Sunday afternoon so I just took advantage of it.  I did think this was probably one of the least productive weekends but at the same time it was nice to just take it easy for the weekend.  Then the volunteers and I went and saw a early movie.  I then went back to the team house and had a little  bit of dinner and called it a night early!

This morning I tried to sleep late but that does not happen anymore!  I got up and some errands to run!  I spent the afternoon trying to finish unpacking and having everything sorted out in my flat.  I also caught up on doing laundry because I have not done it since the trip while we were in Zambia.  Then I talked to my parents for two hours on the phone.  We had not talked in a couple of weeks because of me being gone and all of that stuff so today was the day for catch up time!  Then, Pat invited me over for dinner and to spend the night!  It is nice having a South African mom so I went over there and shared with her some pictures from the trip and we just watched girl movies and talked and went to bed early.

Well this morning it was back to the normal Friday training with the Life Skill Educators.  I was looking forward to it because it would be the first time that I was going to see all of them since being back from our trip.  We had to up our time because we were all going to a service for the International Day of Prayer.  So it was nice this morning to not have to worry about the training and just be a participant.  I heard great things about how well all of the team leaders did while I was gone for the curriculum training.  They all involved their teams which was a great idea!  We had our training and then headed off to the chapel at Capri for the prayer service.  It was a very cool service.  We prayed for the world and as part of it we broke into groups and prayed for different things going on in the world.  In our group we also prayed for Living Hope and the financial needs for the Life Skill Educator program!  Then after that I went home and did some work from home as well as just took it easy a little bit.  I went and hung out with some of volunteers for the evening.  It is very different not living with them anymore and being on my own.  I am glad for this new part of my life but at the same time for a year I have constantly been around other volunteers and now I am in my own place!  You could say I am changing and growing!!!
